Taiwanese non-leather footwear manufacturer Hong Fu Industrial Group recently entered India by celebrating the ground breaking ceremony of a manufacturing facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Panapakkam.

“In our mission to become the footwear capital of India, we are proud that we have been able to bring in a cumulative investment of ₹6,550 crore in this sector, creating 86,150 jobs in the districts of Perambalur, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur and Ranipet. Another significant outcome is that most of these jobs will be for our young women!,” Stalin later tweeted on X.
Hong Fu, the world’s second-largest manufacturer of non-leather athletic footwear, supplies to US brands Nike, Under Armour, Converse, Vans, Reebok and UGG; German brands Puma and Adidas, French brand HOKA; and Swiss sportswear brand ON.
Hong Fu signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Tamil Nadu government for the project: one in April 2022 for an initial investment of ₹1,000 crore, followed by the second for an additional investment of ₹500 crore in January 2024, according to media reports from the state.
