A quick and easy beef and broccoli using ground beef.

ingredients
    For the sauce:
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (gluten-free or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoon hoisin sauce (gluten-free for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (or honey, or maple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, grated
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water (or chicken broth (link))
  • For the beef and broccoli:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound broccoli, cut into florets
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

    For the sauce:
  1. Mix everything well.
  2. For the beef and broccoli:
  3. Cook the beef in a large pan over medium-high heat, breaking it apart as it cooks, until it is no longer pink, about 5 minutes, draining off any excess grease.
  4. Add the sauce, mix, and simmer until it thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the broccoli and cook, mixing, until the broccoli is just tender, about 5 minutes.
  6. Mix in the green onions, sesame oil, and sesame seeds and enjoy!

Option: Add 1 teaspoon chili sauce (such as sambal oelek or sriracha).
Option: Add 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
